Priston Mill & Tythe Barn
Priston Mill is one of the most popular wedding venues in the Bristol and Bath area. It has a choice of 2 fantastic old venues – a stone barn with vaulted wooden roof and mezzanine floor, and a multi-floored old Watermill with a decked area overlooking the water.
We’ve played at Priston Mill more than most venues in the area and can definitely vouch for it.
Here’s what we like about the Tythe Barn
It has a beautifully maintained courtyard with a stream that runs along one side. The area is walled and has lovely flower bedding surrounding a lush green with tables and chairs. There’s more than enough space for a large number of guests to mill about out here, and if the weather’s not so great, the L-shaped barn can accommodate everyone in comfort.
The barn has a bar tucked out of the way but easily accessible from the dancefloor area. There’s lots of space for a band and plenty of room for dancing.
The food we’ve eaten as part of the evening buffets there has been of a high standard and the staff are polite and cheerfully friendly.
The barn wraps ninety degrees around into it’s other section which has a sofa area and access to toilets.
As a band, we think the Tythe Barn is the best choice at Priston Mill. It’s well thought out dimensions can accommodate around 150 people and provided everyone doesn’t head to the seating arm of the barn, or hang about outside, the dancefloor area is great with the bar on hand for when you need a break.
The mezzanine floor is a great place for the bride and groom to hang out and recover their energy whilst being able to watch the party going on below.
The Watermill is suitable for about 90 guests and due to its multiple floors, can get a bit pokey with lots of people milling around it, (excuse the pun). But the dancefloor level (top floor) is spacious enough for a band and plenty of revellers, and there’s a great decked area to cool down overlooking the water.
Kids can be entertained by the decent playground situated between the two venues, or on the green of the Tythe Barn.
Priston Mill is situated south-west of Bath and is usually quite easy to get to from pretty much any direction.
